Why does registration keep failing after I enter my number?
Check the country code, the complete number and whether it can receive ordinary SMS and calls. VoIP, toll-free, some virtual and landline numbers may be unsupported. One failed verification does not prove a ban; use the exact notice shown in the app.
How should a mainland China number be entered?
Choose China +86 in the app and enter the carrier number; the leading 0 commonly used for domestic long-distance dialling is normally not repeated after the country code. Check the country and number the app displays. Keep another person’s number, codes and recovery details under their control.
How do I keep chats and the same account when changing numbers?
When the old number is still usable and the original account is on the device, complete a backup first and use the Change Number flow in the phone app. Do not create a separate account with the new number first, and do not change numbers from Desktop or Web. A cloud backup tied to the old number does not automatically become the new number’s restore backup.
Can an account be guaranteed if the old number is gone?
There is no guarantee. WhatsApp controls account verification and recovery; after losing a number, you may only be able to reverify or create a new account under the available conditions. Read the official app notice, retain evidence of business ownership, then agree on the new number, backup and customer-notice plan.
