OpenClaw 2026.4.2 Released — Task Flow, Exec Security Defaults & WhatsApp Reactions

OpenClaw 2026.4.2 Is Out

OpenClaw 2026.4.2 ships with three changes that matter for B2B sales automation: restored Task Flow orchestration, hardened exec security defaults, and new WhatsApp reaction guidance.

B2B SDR Agent Template v3.5.0 is fully compatible — no breaking changes for SDR deployments.

What's New

1. Task Flow — Background Orchestration Restored

The core Task Flow substrate is back with managed-vs-mirrored sync modes, durable flow state tracking, and openclaw flows inspection primitives.

For B2B SDR agents, this unlocks:

  • Background lead nurture sequences that persist across sessions
  • Multi-step follow-up workflows that survive gateway restarts
  • Parallel prospect tracking — manage 50+ active leads without context overflow

Task Flow is available automatically in 4.2. No configuration required.

2. Exec Security — Now Default

OpenClaw 2026.4.2 makes security=full with ask=off the default exec mode. Previously, this required explicit configuration in exec-approvals.json (added as a fix in b2b-sdr-template v3.3.1 for 4.1 compatibility).

The template keeps the explicit config for forward-compatibility, but new installs on 4.2 will work correctly even without it.

3. WhatsApp reactionLevel

OpenClaw 2026.4.2 adds reactionLevel guidance for agent reactions to customer messages. Three levels are available:

Level Behavior B2B SDR Recommendation
"none" No reactions Default — safest for new accounts
"selective" React to key messages ✅ Confirmations, 👀 Inquiries
"active" React to all messages High engagement, use carefully

For B2B SDR, "selective" strikes the right balance — it signals responsiveness on quotes and inquiries without over-automating.

Breaking Changes (Not SDR-Relevant)

Two breaking changes in 4.2 do not affect standard B2B SDR deployments:

  • xAI plugin: tools.web.x_search.* → plugins.entries.xai.config.xSearch.* — only if you use xAI web search
  • Firecrawl plugin: tools.web.fetch.firecrawl.* → plugins.entries.firecrawl.config.webFetch.* — only if you use Firecrawl

Run openclaw doctor --fix to migrate either config automatically.

Upgrade

# Update OpenClaw

# Restart gateway
openclaw gateway restart

# Update B2B SDR template
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/iPythoning/b2b-sdr-agent-template/main/install.sh | bash

Or re-deploy a client from scratch:

git clone https://github.com/iPythoning/b2b-sdr-agent-template
cd b2b-sdr-agent-template
